Why “Le Duc”?
The name “Le Duc” refers to the Duchy of Savoy, a neighbouring territory of the Dauphiné for several centuries.
The Dukes of Savoy ruled over these mountain lands, with the border partly following the course of the Guiers river. This proximity between two powers shaped the unique identity of Saint-Pierre-d’Entremont, a village located at the meeting point between the Duchy of Savoy and the Kingdom of France.
