Why “Le Dauphin”?
The name “Le Dauphin” refers to the Dauphiné, a former province to which Saint-Pierre-d’Entremont (Isère) once belonged.
The dolphin was its emblem and also referred to the title held by the heir to the French throne, who ruled over the Dauphiné.
Located on the historic border between Dauphiné and Savoie, the village still reflects this past, where the river marked both a boundary and a place of passage.
